Issue:
A new position opens on the exchange, usually in the opposite direction, after your original position has been closed.
Reason:
An exchange-side conditional order, such as Take Profit or Stop Loss, triggers immediately after an exit signal closes the position, before the conditional order can be cancelled.
You close the position directly on the exchange and then close it again through WunderTrading, either using Market Close or an exit signal.
Solution:
To avoid overlapping exits, we recommend using one exit method: either exchange-side conditional orders or exit signals. There is a small chance that a conditional TP or SL order could trigger at the same time as a Market Close action or exit signal, causing both exit orders to execute.
Manage exits through WunderTrading whenever possible. If you have already closed a position directly on the exchange, check for remaining conditional orders and cancel those associated with the closed trade. If WunderTrading still tracks the position as active, use Unlink & Stop Tracking, which removes it from tracking without sending another exchange order.
Example:
You have a Long position of 1 ETH. An exit signal closes it by selling 1 ETH. Immediately afterward, the exchange-side Stop Loss also sells 1 ETH, before our system manages to cancel it.
You manually close a Long position on the exchange, then click Market Close in WunderTrading while the strategy still appears active.
We always recommend using Reduce Only where available to ensure that an exit order can only reduce or close an existing position, rather than accidentally opening a new position in the opposite direction. However, this protection does not apply to conditional orders that do not support Reduce Only or to entry orders intended to open a new position, without having to close an old one.
